RIT or DIE Under Live Fire Conditions
The objective and function of a dedicated rapid intervention team (RIT) is to locate, and rescue lost, trapped, and/or injured firefighters located within the structure or on the fire ground.
When firefighters face mayday conditions, saving them may require more than basic rescue techniques and training. Before we can be proficient at advanced techniques, we must instill proficiency of basic techniques that your title of firefighter requires.
Data shows that RIT teams often must be rescued once finding the Firefighter or Firefighter who initially called the mayday.
